Heritage Institute of Technology (HITK) is a private educational institution in the south of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. It became an autonomous college from the University Grants Commission in 2017. According to the 2022 National Institutional Ranking Framework for Engineering, the college ranked in the 201-250 rank band. HITK was established on the eastern fringes of Kolkata in September 2000 by a group of industrialists from the information technology, electronics, and related industries around Kolkata, and other public figures, organized as the Kalyan Bhum Trust.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring to take admission to Heritage Institute of Technology courses can refer to the following details presenting the course eligibility for admission.

B.E. / B.Tech
  • H.S. (10+2) from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
  • Must have qualified WBJEE conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, OR JEE (Main) conducted by CBSE and recommended by WBJEE Board.
  • 80% seats filled from WBJEE candidates, 10% from JEE(Main) candidates and 10% under Management Quota.
  • Lateral Entry (2nd year): Additional 10% intake for Diploma holders and B.Sc degree holders through JLET conducted by WBJEE Board.
  • Minimum 45% aggregate marks in PCM at 10+2 level (40% for SC/ST candidates).
M.E. / M.Tech
  • B.E. / B.Tech degree in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university with minimum 55% aggregate marks.
  • Valid GATE score is preferred; however, candidates without GATE score may also apply and must appear for a written test conducted by MAKAUT.
  • Admissions are made strictly as per the eligibility criteria prescribed by MAKAUT, West Bengal.
  • Application forms are available at MAKAUT; submit the form along with prescribed fee directly to the university.
MCA
  • Bachelor's degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized university with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at 10+2 or graduation level.
  • Minimum 50% aggregate marks at graduation level (45% for SC/ST candidates).
  • Must qualify in JECA (Joint Entrance for MCA) conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.
  • Candidates must have studied Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science at the graduation level.
Admission Details
B.Tech
  • H.S. (10+2) examination of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal or equivalent
  • Qualified Joint Entrance Examination conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board / JEE(Main) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education and recommended by the WBJEE Board
  • 80% seats to be filled from qualified WBJEE candidates, 10% from qualified JEE(Main) candidates and 10% under Management Quota for candidates having valid rank cards of WBJEE / JEE(Main).
  • An additional intake of 10% of the approved intake in the 2nd year (Lateral Entry) from Diploma holders and B.Sc degree holders through JLET conducted by WBJEE Board.
M.Tech

Admissions are made from candidates as per eligibility criteria prescribed by MAKAUT. All applicants for admission to M.Tech program including those having valid GATE score should sit for a written test for which they have to fill in the application form and submit the same to MAKAUT along with prescribed fee.

MCA

Candidates seeking admission to the first semester of the four-semester MCA course are required to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examination (JECA) for admission to Master of Computer Application conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board.
